The WWW is currently the prevailing medium for communication and has a rising significance for the transfer of information and knowledge in educational contexts. According to McLuhan’s claim „The medium is the message” it is necessary to understand the character of the current media. The internet as a medium for communication - users of this global platform come from different cultures. Therefore it is necessary to keep intercultural differences in mind. One basic element in web design is colour - which influences the semantic classification of the web site due to culture. In my diploma thesis I did a research on the influence of intercultural differences in colour design on the perception and the usabiltiy of web sites. (more…)
